Once you inquire, reserving your Salem or Portland newborn photography session is simple and seamless. Because newborn portraits are best captured within the first two weeks, I schedule your session around your due date to ensure flexibility when baby arrives.

After booking, you may choose a call, Zoom consultation, or complete a detailed questionnaire so I can thoughtfully design your session. We will discuss styling, colors, and the heirloom artwork you envision for your home, allowing your newborn photography experience to feel calm, prepared, and fully guided from the start.

Reserve Your Newborn Session

Once your baby arrives, you’ll simply reach out and we will confirm your official session date. Your newborn photography session will take place in my Salem, Oregon studio, where everything is prepared in advance for a calm, baby-led experience.

Sessions begin at 10am and typically last 2–3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and natural transitions. We start with parent and sibling portraits, then move into beautifully styled newborn images, all handled with patience, safety, and intention.

Approximately one week after your newborn photography session, we will meet for your image reveal, either in my Salem studio or via Zoom. During this appointment, you’ll view a curated gallery of your professionally edited newborn portraits for the first time.

Together, we will select your favorite images and design the artwork that will live in your home, from custom albums to fine art wall pieces and archival prints. I guide you through every decision, ensuring your final collection feels cohesive, meaningful, and truly reflective of this season.

Once your selections are finalized, your professionally retouched newborn images will be delivered through a private online gallery, where you can download and share your digital collection with family and friends. At the same time, your custom albums, fine art prints, and heirloom wall artwork will be carefully produced and prepared for delivery.

I always suggest reaching out around the halfway point of pregnancy, usually near the 20 week mark. That’s when most mamas feel settled into their second trimester and ready to start planning the beautiful things ahead.

Keep in mind, I only take a limited number of due dates each month so my calendar stays flexible for early or late arrivals. Because of that, my schedule fills quickly. When Does a Newborn Photography Session Take Place After Birth?

Most newborn sessions happen when baby is between 7 and 14 days old, when they’re still in that dreamy, sleepy stage that allows for those curled up poses everyone loves.
But every baby writes their own story. And if you or baby end up needing more time to recover or settle in, there is always room for that. I create space in my schedule for flexibility because your wellbeing and baby’s comfort always come first. Can Parents and Siblings Be Included in Our Newborn Photography Session?

Of COURSE!! Welcoming a new baby is a family story, and I love documenting that connection. Parent and sibling images are always available if you choose. These portraits often become some of the most cherished because they capture the beginning of a new chapter together. How Long Does a Professional Newborn Photography Session Last?

Newborn sessions typically last between two and three hours. This slower pace allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and snuggles. We follow baby’s cues and let them lead the rhythm of the session so everything feels calm, comfortable, and unhurried. What If My Baby Is Fussy During Our Newborn Photography Session?

This is completely normal and honestly expected. I have photographed hundreds of babies, and I’ve seen every mood and rhythm possible. Nothing surprises me. I allow plenty of time for feeding and settling, and I use soothing techniques and gentle posing that help baby feel secure. I will offer guidance and schedule recommendations for the morning of your session as well, so that when you arrive baby is ready to go.

What Should I Bring to My Newborn Photography Session?

Truly nothing beyond the essentials for feeding and comforting your baby. Your diaper bag, milk or bottles, and anything necessary for their routine is perfect. I handle everything else. Here are some practical items, that you might consider To Bring To Your Newborn Session.

My studio is fully stocked with curated props, hand-selected wraps, boutique outfits, bonnets, headbands, soft blankets, and cozy textures so you never have to pack or purchase a thing.

Your only job is to arrive, breathe, and settle into the sweetness of the moment. I’ll guide the rest.

How Does Scheduling Work for Newborn Photography in Salem or Portland?

I plan for the unpredictability. Once you book, I reserve your due date on my calendar, holding space for you without locking in an exact session date.

When baby is born, you simply send me a quick message, and I will send you a few options for dates for your session. Whether your little one arrives early, right on time, or fashionably late, you’re still guaranteed a spot. This approach allows everything to unfold naturally, without stress or pressure.

When Will We Receive Our Newborn Images and Custom Artwork?

We will schedule your ordering appointment 1-2 weeks after your session. This is where you will see your images for the first time and order your products. After viewing your images, you’ll select your favorites and choose your heirloom products such as albums, keepsake boxes, or fine art prints. I walk you through the entire process so it feels simple and enjoyable. The entire process is 4-6 weeks after your ordering appointment.

Are Digital Images Included With All Newborn Photography Sessions?

Absolutely! While my focus leans fully into creating tangible, heirloom pieces you can hold and enjoy in your home, I know the comfort that comes with having digital copies for safekeeping.
Every portrait you purchase as a printed product includes its matching, fully retouched digital file. This way, you receive the best of both worlds… art you can display and treasure daily, and digital files tucked safely away for the years still ahead.

Can I Still Book a Newborn Photographer If My Baby Has Already Arrived?
