As a mom to twins, I know deeply how important it is to feel completely comfortable with the person holding and photographing your brand new baby. That kind of trust matters more now than ever.
So my hope is that by sharing a little bit of who I am, and my vast experience with newborns, you’ll feel a sense of ease in working with me.
For more than 13 years, I’ve specialized in newborn photography in Salem, Oregon and the greater Portland area. What began as photographing a dear friend’s baby quickly became my life’s work. These first weeks with your baby are sacred, worth honoring, worth documenting, and worth preserving with intention.
My twin boys (now 4!) came into my life through embryo donation after years of infertility, diagnoses, and loss. So when I say I understand the deep ache of wanting to hold your baby in your arms, I truly do.
That experience shapes everything I do as a Salem, Oregon newborn photographer. I always suggest reaching out around the halfway point of pregnancy, usually near the 20 week mark. That’s when most mamas feel settled into their second trimester and ready to start planning the beautiful things ahead.
I only take a limited number of due dates each month so my calendar stays flexible for early or late arrivals. Because of that, my schedule fills quickly. If you already know you want these fleeting moments photographed, reaching out sooner ensures you’re held gently on my calendar long before baby makes their debut.

Absolutely. Welcoming a new baby is a family story, and I love documenting that connection. Parent and sibling images are always available if you choose. These portraits often become some of the most cherished because they capture the beginning of a new chapter together.

I plan for the unpredictability. Once you book, I reserve your due date on my calendar, holding space for you without locking in an exact session date.
When baby is born, you simply send me a quick message, and I will send you a few options for dates for your session. Whether your little one arrives early, right on time, or fashionably late, you’re still guaranteed a spot. This approach allows everything to unfold naturally, without stress or pressure.

As a mom who was pregnant with twins, I get it. You feel awkward being in front of the camera, and your not sure how to pose? Or maybe you feel that images of you are never flattering, so it won’t be worth the time and investment?
This is why I have perfected a process to guide you every step of the way. The moment you step in front of my camera, I’m going to use expert posing techniques that really bring out your natural beauty, that light you in the most flattering way, and create an environment where you feel comfortable and at ease. Yes, even at 33 weeks pregnant. :)
It’s hard to imagine that in just a few short months, your tiny little newborn will become this chunky, giggly, squeezable baby with the most darling grin you have ever seen. But it happens, often right under your nose. I have been photographing baby’s of all ages for 12 years and I have survived the baby/toddler age of my twin boys, so I know a think or two about babies. I know exactly what your baby needs to feel comfortable with me, and to enable their true nature to show. I promise you a baby photoshoot where you will say, that was SO much easier than I expected!
If you are like me, the amount of to-do’s we have on our family calendar is exhausting. And the thought of wrangling your children, and getting them and yourselves dressed in nice clothes, hair and makeup done, and everyone arriving in one piece WHILE still attempting to have loving feelings towards each other, ha! feels daunting. I’ve been there. I get it.
Let me ease your worries. There isn’t anything new under the sun that I haven’t seen or worked with in 12 years of photographing families. I do not want, nor do I expect your kids to act perfectly. I want them to be comfortable to be themselves. I work hard to have a process that not only capture your “chaos” in a beautiful, stunning way that maybe you’ve never even seen before. But also let kids have fun, and dads too. My favorite thing to hear is “That was easier than I thought it would be!”

Salem, Oregon, the state's capital city, boasts a population of approximately 177,432 as of 2023. This is the home of LiveJoy Photography’s studio, and I have lived here for over 15 years. Salem hosts a variety of annual festivals, including the Salem Art Fair & Festival, a large event celebrating visual and performing arts in September. It also hosts the Oregon State Fair in the summer along with one of my favorite actives the Salem Saturday Market. Families can enjoy attractions such as the Enchanted Forest Theme Park, a whimsical popular amusement park featuring fairy tale-themed rides and exhibits for both kids and adults. Salem's dining scene offers lots of options, with family-friendly restaurants like The Cozy Taberna and the incredible Word Of Mouth Bistro known for its made from scratch breakfasts. Shoppers can then explore unique local stores in the historic downtown area, which also features landmarks like the Oregon State Capitol and the historic Elsinore Theatre. For outdoor play, the newly updated Riverfront Park provides scenic walking paths along the Willamette River, a new walking bridge, a playground, outdoor amphitheater and of course the iconic Salem's Riverfront Carousel.
